Jammu-Kashmir, Himachal to experience coldwave due to heavy rain

Heavy rain, a low-pressure area has formed over the central parts of the south Bay of Bengal and is moving west-northwestward.

After that, it will track northeastward along the east coast of the subcontinent, gradually weakening as it goes.

Heavy to very heavy rainfall is expected across eastern parts of South India from Tuesday to Thursday.

The northern mountainous regions of the country and the northern plains are likely to be plagued by dense fog for a few days to come.

Most of India will experience near-normal or below-normal temperatures over the coming week, with the exception of the northeast of the country and parts of southern India, which will have above-normal temperatures.

In North, Central, and West India, on the other hand, it is expected that minimum temperatures will remain below or significantly below normal for the highest of the year.

Over the next few days, Northern Virginia and the National Capital Region will experience nighttime lows in the single digits.

In the North and Central parts of India, there is the potential of a cold wave to severe cold wave on Tuesday.

Some parts of North India will likely continue to experience cold wave conditions for several days.

The same time, a cold front associated with a low-pressure area is proposed to be moving across eastern parts of the subcontinent, leading to nighttime temperatures that are warmer than normal.
