Snow and Wind hit Southern, and Central Saskatchewan
Snowfall warnings were issued for Saskatchewan’s southwest corner on Tuesday morning.
ECCC said Cypress Hills could receive 15 centimeters of snow on Tuesday. Similarly, poor visibility was reported south of Highway 1 due to winds of up to 80 km/h.
ECCC meteorologist Danielle Desjardins attributed the moisture to a low-pressure system tracking into Saskatchewan from Alberta, and snow is expected to fall there and in Regina as well.
Snow and Wind hit Southern
Desjardins warned that slippery conditions could exist in some southern regions. Initially, we saw some rain and there’s a chance there will be a small amount of freezing rain with this as it transitions to snow, she said.
“So when driving, make sure to give yourself a lot of extra time to get to your destination.” The good news is that the snow will stop tonight, as well as the winds will decrease.
For southern and central Saskatchewan, temperatures are expected to be near double digits, she said. Generally, it’s in the range of seven to ten degrees Celsius, which is above average for this time of year.”
According to her, temperatures will remain high until the civic election on Nov. 13.

Heavy, blowing snow prompts warnings
In southern Saskatchewan, it looks like the current trend of warmer and drier weather will continue for the next week and around election time.”
According to her, there are no indications of a major system heading our way. Winter forecasting is much more challenging than it used to be.
We are expecting a weak La Nia this year. “During La Nia, especially strong ones, Saskatchewan typically experiences cold weather and snow.
Forecasts for Southern Saskatchewan
“However, this is going to be a bit of a challenge for us because this is a weak La Nia.”
I think that there is a possibility that it will be a very cold, snowy winter, she said.
I think it will be interesting to see what happens, but I don’t think it will be as bad as those snowy years that seemed to be sweeping through the country.”
