Winter’s Beginning with a Cold snap, but Santa Brings a Warmup

Winter’s officially arrives on Saturday at 4:21 a.m, along with the coldest temperatures of the year so far.

Winter begins Saturday morning with -20°C temperatures as the mercury drops Friday night.

Nevertheless, this cold snap will shorten as the days begin to warm up as the weekend progresses and Santa’s big day approaches.

During the afternoon portion of Friday, there will be a few sunny breaks, as temperatures reach -4°C as skies will be cloudy most of the day.

A cooler air mass will encroach on us on Saturday with highs of -13°C under colder conditions than we had during the daytime.

During the day on Sunday, the clouds will gradually move back into the region as temperatures hit -4°C.

On the other hand, the windchill values will drop to around -10°C because of a southerly breeze.

It is possible that we will have a little snow on Monday, but we will start to experience wintery conditions by the middle of the week as we approach Christmas.
