Winter squall warning replaces watch, possible 40 cm
An updated version of Environment Canada’s snow Winter squall watch has been issued, with a warning being issued for the storm.
Upon the release of an update, snow squall warnings have been replaced by snow squall watches in searchmont – Montreal River Harbour – Batchawana Bay, Ont. (048820) Sault Ste.
On the Island of St. Joseph, on the south shore of Lake St. Marie, in Ontario (048830). Snow squalls with significant lake effect are expected for Thursday and Friday of this week.
Through Friday, snow accumulations of between 20 and 40 cm will be experienced at some locations in the area.

An average snowfall rate of five to ten centimeters per hour has been recorded at peak times. Depending on the amount of snow and the direction of the wind, there may be very poor visibility at times.
In the beginning of Thursday and continuing into Friday there will be a series of events.
Despite a small amount of lake effect snow being experienced tonight, there is the possibility of more significant lake effect snow squalls developing Thursday morning and persisting into Friday in the area.

If a snow squall band locks in for an extended period of time, you can expect snow accumulations as high as 40 cm, but the amount can go higher if the band remains for a longer period of time.
At times, when the snow is heavy and blowing, visibility can suddenly be reduced to below zero at times, leading to reduced safety.
You may want to postpone non-essential travel until conditions improve in order to avoid any inconvenience.
