What is the Frequency of Your Skiing and Snowboarding Each Winter?

Winter Skiers and boarders lined up early Friday and Thursday night to get their first crack at the upcoming season at Big White.

November’s stellar conditions ushered in the winter season early, a week earlier than originally planned.

Snow this early in the season is welcome after last season’s dreadful November and December.

Compared to last season, the alpine snow base hadn’t reached 104 cm until New Year’s.

Michael J. Ballin gall, Big White Vice President, said, “Now that we are open and there is lots of snow, you can sleep at night.”.

It’s been a long time since it was this good. The Plaza Chair is just too good to miss, and this is my 35th year. The problem gets worse, not better.”

Opening day at Big White was one of its best-ever

As usual, skiers and boarders waited in line early Friday, and even late Thursday night, for their first taste of the new season at Big White.

In light of the stellar conditions November provided, the winter season officially started Friday morning.

Big White management is relieved by early snow after a lackluster November and December last season.

There is still more snow to fall today in alpine areas, but last season’s snow base didn’t reach that level until New Year’s Eve.

Big White Vice President Michael J. Ballingall said, “Now that we’re open and there’s tons of snow, you can sleep at night.”

‘This hasn’t happened in a very long time…’ I’m in my 35th year and walking down the Plaza Chair is a real thrill. The depth of the problem deepens, but it does not improve.”

Those who arrived first were Roan Bachmann and Nash Wilson, who arrived at 8 p.m. During the night of Thursday, they camped out. After 9 p.m., Corsen Braham and Bryn Then also attended the event.

Roan described it as “a pleasant party” despite Nash’s remarks that the night was “cold.”

It was long, but I didn’t mind, I got about two or three hours of sleep, so that was enough to keep me going today,” said Bryn.

According to Ballingall, B.C.’s skiing economy is flourishing due to the early season conditions, with Silver Star and Sun Peaks launching Saturday, alongside Whistler opening this week. As of this season, Big White has employed about 1,000 people.

Visit our Big White winter wonderland, Ballingall said. Only the Ridge Rocket, Plaza Chair, and Gondola operate this weekend.
