Western and Southern Manitoba Regions are being Warned about winter Storm and Snowfalls
West Manitoba is bracing for dangerous winter conditions following a winter storm warning, while the south of the province is also bracing for heavy snowfall.
During the week, a weak low pressure system over southern Saskatchewan is expected to bring ten to twenty centimetres of snow to southern Saskatchewan.
Western Saskatchewan is also expected to experience freezing rain and windier conditions. Westman’s visibility may be affected by wind gusts between 50 and 60 km/h.
Winter storm warnings are in effect for:
- Neepawa, Carberry, and Treherne are all in Brandon.
- Winnipegosis, Ruuphin, Roblin, and Dauphin.
- Riding Mountain National Park and Minnedosa National Park.
Roadways, sidewalks, parking lots and highways will become icy, slippery and hazardous.
Transportation delays may be caused by poor weather conditions, but the National Weather Service recommends postponing non-essential travel until conditions improve.
Manitoba 511 reports traffic is impacted by an accident on the Trans-Canada Highway about two kilometres west of Sidney.

Flurries are expected to persist into Monday morning after the heaviest snow ends late Sunday.
In the event of snowfall, the following locations are under a snowfall warning:
- Winnipeg, the city.
- Fisher River, Gypsumville, Arborg, Hecla, and Ashern.
- Nopiming Provincial Park, Pine Falls and Bissett.
- Grand Beach, Beausejour, and Dugald.
- Morris, Morden, Winkler, and Altona.
- Headingley, Brunkild, and Carman are all located in Portage la Prairie.
- Woodlands, Selkirk, Gimli, and Stonewall.
- Forests of Sprague and Northwest Angle.
- Emerson, Steinbach, Vita, and Richer.
- The Stewards were Rose Mccreary Alonsa and Gladstone.
- Swan River, Duck Mountain and the Porcupine Provincial Forest.
- Whiteshell, Lac du Bonnet and Pinawa.
Winnipeg’s priority system dictates what roads, sidewalks, and pathways are plowed Sunday evening. Monday morning will be the first day back lanes are cleared.
Heavy equipment is a source of danger for motorists, so drivers are advised to drive with extreme caution.
Winter route parking bans are in effect, so vehicles cannot park between 2 a.m. in the morning on winter route streets. Parking in violation may result in a ticket and towing.
