UK Snow Maps indicate an Arctic blast with a 460-mile Barrage and a -6C Temperature will hit before Christmas
According to the latest weather maps, snow is likely to fall across a 460-mile stretch of the UK during a freezing -4C Arctic blast before Christmas Day.
WX Charts maps show snow at 6 am on December 22 in northern Scotland, the Highlands, and the Pennines to Greater Manchester.
In Scotland, snow depths could reach nine millimeters, while elsewhere the depths are only one millimeter, and the North of England might see as much as one millimeter of snow.
According to Netweather maps, the UK’s Scottish Highlands, Scottish Borders, South Lanarkshire, and eastern Dumfries and Galloway are at an 80% risk of snow.
Snow is also a concern along the border between Cumbria and Northumberland, according to Netweather’s snow risk map.

WX Charts’ temperature map for Friday (December 6) indicates lows of as low as -6C in central Scotland in the early morning hours of December 22.
Weather forecasts for the period from December 20 to January 3 predict sleet and snow, particularly on high ground.
Generally, unsettled conditions are expected, with wind and rain, with showers affecting most areas, particularly the northwest and north.
During any settled spells, frost and fog are possible, and temperatures are predicted to be around average for this time of year.
There is also a possibility of snow in the north between December 16-22, but it will be rare, especially south of the border.
Snow may be caused by northerly and north-westerly winds or by frontal systems pushing cold air into the region.
Nevertheless, Netweather predicts that there will be little snow on the ground south of the Midlands.
Today started fine, but chilly, with scattered showers in north and west Scotland. Western parts of the country will be hit with heavy rain in the afternoon. Gales are expected to develop as winds strengthen.
Rain will spread east overnight as winds continue to strengthen, bringing heavy downpours at times. The arrival of Storm Darragh will generate gales and later severe gales.
Wet and windy conditions are expected on Saturday, particularly in the west, where Storm Darragh will bring severe gales. Northern Scotland will receive rain in the form of snow.
Rain and blustery winds are forecast to ease gradually on Sunday and Monday. Eventually, things will become drier and brighter, with fog and mist possibly present later on Monday and into Tuesday.
