Travel Advisories are in Effect for Toronto and GTA in the Evening due to Snowfall

Snowfall will affect Toronto and other communities across southern Ontario as Environment Canada warns of a messy evening commute due to the winter weather travel advisory.
Due to low pressure, snow started falling Thursday morning, and it should taper off by evening.
Winter driving conditions could be hazardous, and city rush-hour traffic could be significantly affected.
“Drive slowly when the road is slippery. Make sure you keep a safe distance from taillights ahead.
Driving in low visibility should be accompanied by the use of lights and maintaining a safe following distance, advises Environment Canada.

Ontario, York, Peel, Hamilton, Caledon, and northern Niagara are included in the advisory.
GTA areas should receive 5 cm of snow, with north and east areas receiving more.
Winter Operations are Underway in Toronto
Toronto monitors weather forecasts and road conditions 24 hours a day and deploys crews, equipment, and vehicles as necessary.
Natasha Ramsahai, a CityNews meteorologist, said flurries will fall all day and that the wind will increase gradually.
At noon, gusts are expected to be around 60-70 km/h. There will be another round of snowfall around 4 p.m. especially between 5 to 8 p.m. on Thursday,” Ramsahai said.
Toronto expressways, major roads, transit routes, and residential streets begin plowing at 2.5 cm, 5 cm, and 8 cm, respectively.
A major portion of Highway 11 in northern Ontario was shut down this weekend, leaving hundreds stranded, and is still under this advisory.
