This Weekend, Deep, Wind-Driven Snow is Expected in the Prairies

Comfort Tips for Blustery Weather
Alberta and Saskatchewan already have some snow accumulating. We are just getting started, but this weekend is going to be a blast.
British Columbia and the Pacific Northwest were hit by our latest system at the end of the week.
Low-pressure development on the west prairies will be caused by moisture and energy spilling over the Rockies.
A very cold temperature will make the snow fluffy and powdery, which will accumulate easily and blow and drift easily.
Throughout Saturday, snow will increase in coverage and intensity. Occasionally, snowfall rates will reach 2-4 cm per hour.

Snowfall Totals of 20-40 cm are Expected
Winter storm warnings are in effect for much of southern Alberta and Saskatchewan ahead of this weekend’s disruption.
Up to 40 cm of snow will fall along some of the province’s borders, with 15-25 cm expected in most places through Sunday.
Snow will blow and visibility will be reduced with blustery winds of 30-40 km/h. The conditions for driving are rapidly changing and deteriorating.
“A heavy snowfall may reduce visibility at times,” warns Environment and Climate Change Canada (ECCC).
Snow accumulation can make highways, roads, walkways, and parking lots difficult to navigate.
Road closures are possible again this weekend, so drivers should remain alert. Winds and heavy snow may cause power outages. Charge your devices before the storm arrives, and prepare for power and travel disruptions.
