Storm Bert Causes Police to Warn Against road Travel

Scotland may experience more heavy snowfall on Saturday as Storm Bert is expected to bring more heavy snowfall.

Highlands, Aberdeenshire, Perth and Kinross, and Angus are already subject to an amber warning from the Met Office.

Travel and power supplies are likely to be affected by severe weather on Saturday from 07:00 to 17:00.

Throughout the northern belt of Scotland, Police Scotland has issued a warning.

Over the weekend, Scotland was also issued several yellow “Be aware” weather warnings due to snow, high winds, and heavy rain.

Vinnie Fisher, deputy head of the Road Policing division, said: “People should consider whether adverse weather impacts their driving.

Keep an eye out for media broadcasts, follow Transport Scotland and the Met Office on social media, and share information.”

Several rural communities may be cut off by deep snow, particularly on higher roads.

There might also be power outages or telephone network interruptions.

Poor road conditions forced schools in Highlands, Moray, and Aberdeenshire to close on Thursday.

Rail disruption continued into the weekend, ScotRail said, urging people to check their routes.
