Weather Network reports that a burst of wintry weather will hit hard in December as well as an abrupt transition into colder weather.

There is a good chance of winning the white Christmas lottery, especially in the central and western parts of Quebec. Just in time for the holidays, ski hills will get their groove back with fresh snow.

Montreal and southern Quebec, however, are in a different situation. Forecasts predict many snowstorms will turn into rain or ice.

The St. Lawrence Valley should receive below-average snow accumulations, but that doesn’t mean disruptions will lessen. It’s still possible for storms to expand southward, leading to surprise snowfall.

Winter will be milder in January and February, giving us a break from the chill now and then.

This winter will be above normal for eastern Canada, but not as warm as last year. Don’t worry about slushy days, but keep your winter boots handy.

The snowfall will be more consistent further north or in central or western Quebec.

Forecasters at the Weather Network predict near-normal snow accumulations in eastern Quebec, with even greater accumulations expected in western regions.

Snowmobiling enthusiasts and winter hikers alike are sure to find a lot to love this year.

There’s something for everyone this winter in Quebec, with a messy mix in the south and a snowy playground in the north.
