Snow and Gusty winds are Predicted for Thursday Morning in Western Pennsylvania

Snow is on the way back to Pennsylvania, along with gusty winds and colder temperatures.

The following regions are likely to receive more snow than those further from Interstate 80 and typical lake effect zones.

Western Pennsylvania will be celebrating Impact Day on Thursday.

As of Wednesday evening, snow is predicted to begin along and north of I-80. By 10 or 11 p.m., snow will cover the entire area.

During the early hours of Thursday morning, a speedy front will bring most of the snow.

Snow will be accompanied by wind gusts of 35 to 40 mph. Snow will not only fall but will also blow, decreasing visibility.

Snow is mostly over by the time you wake up on Thursday. You may still experience delays on your morning commute.

You should avoid walking on slippery pavement, such as sidewalks, parking lots, roads, and bridges. Blowing snow will continue for some time.

Snow showers with lake effects north of Pittsburgh Thursday afternoon and evening.

In areas north of Pittsburgh, lake-enhanced snow showers are expected to continue. It is expected to accumulate more snow through Thursday evening.

Snow amounts will be light as clippers do. The majority of the area will receive at least one inch of precipitation by Thursday morning.

Ridges and areas north of Route 422 will receive 2 to 3 inches of snow.

With bands of lake-effect snow continuing through Friday morning, counties along I-80 will be among the “winners”.

Snow and wind have been discussed. An additional impact occurs – a bitter blast. During this clipper’s ride, colder air will be brought in.

Feel the cold Thursday morning when temperatures feel like they are near zero. It will take the entire day to rid yourself of the bitter feeling.
