School Buses May be Canceled Across Lake Huron and Georgian Bay on Monday because of the Weather
Weather Storms are pounding northern Ontario’s snowbelt areas through the weekend and are expected to continue into Monday.
Snow squall warnings have been issued by Environment Canada, with 10-20 cm of snow forecast by Tuesday.
As a result, many school boards in hard-hit areas expected to cancel buses on Monday.
School buses will have a difficult time operating safely throughout the day due to hazardous travel conditions.
Those boards that are most likely to cancel include AMDSB (Goderich and Exeter) and BWDSB (Kincardine and Meaford). Snow is predicted in these regions for 90% of Monday.
Trillium (Haliburton) and NNDSB (Parry Sound) also face cancellations, but at a lower probability of 50% and 25%, respectively.

Buses have a 75% chance of cancelling in the surrounding areas, including TVDSB (Middlesex), AMDSB (Stratford, Listowel, Southampton, Owen Sound, Hanover), and Simcoe County’s “West” weather zone.
Snowbelt regions are significantly less likely to cancel. Simcoe County has a 50/50 chance of snow days in the “North” and “Central” weather zones.
Snow squall warnings from Environment Canada could still lead to precautionary cancellations, even though lake-effect snow is expected to stay closer to Georgian Bay.
The chances of snow squalls intensifying enough to justify cancellations are also 50/50 in London and Oxford County.
It is common for urban boards to have higher cancellation thresholds than rural ones.
Schools in Southern Ontario are unlikely to be cancelled since the most severe conditions are expected in the snowbelt.
