Breckenridge is America’s most popular ski resort with an elevation just shy of 13,000 feet, 2,900 skiable acres, and an average annual snowfall of 355 inches.

Home To Go reported to Travel + Leisure that Vail Resorts’ mountain, about two hours west of Denver International Airport (DEN), is the country’s most popular ski resort. Rankings are determined by how many searches users initiate on the company’s website.

Breckenridge is not an inexpensive resort, even though many fans say it’s the best. It costs an average of $370.72 per person per day – which is partly due to the high prices for vacation rentals.

Nevertheless, Breckenridge is also a component of the Epic Pass program. Breckenridge and other Epic Pass resorts (including Hakuba Valley, Japan) are accessible to Epic Pass members, as are 20 percent discounts on lodging, lessons, and food. Epic Passes cost $1,047 each this season.

Colorado mountain travelers aren’t only interested in visiting Breckenridge. Four of Home To Go’s top five resorts are in Colorado. Several other popular ski resorts are in Utah, including Park City, Vail, and Keystone. The three scored second, third, and fourth on our roundup.

Travelers pack their bags each year for the mountain’s best slopes,” Eleanor Moody, senior PR and inbound marketing manager at HomeToGo, explains to T+L. “Our data suggest an especially strong interest in iconic Western ski resorts for the coming season.”

From Vail’s spanning acres to the high altitudes of Breckenridge, skiers have chosen this region for this winter’s bucket list, snow-clad adventure because it is the most popular destination in the country.”

Snow Park Resort, close to Denver (about an hour and a half away), rounded out the top five most popular ski resorts—ticket prices at Winter Park for powder hounds average about $250 per day. For $1,449 per person, members of the Ikon Pass can access 50 resorts worldwide (in addition to other discounts).

Winter Park’s slopes are accessible by train year-round between Denver Union Station and the resort, so you can skip renting a car and hit the slopes instead.
