Ontario is Expected to Receive another 20-40 cm of Snow

Southern Ontario is expected to see snowfall of up to 40 cm this week due to lake-effect squalls.

Despite fog and rain on Tuesday, more snow is on the way thanks to a “weather bomb” in the U.S. that will bring cold air to Ontario on Wednesday.

It is possible for some areas, including Lake Superior, Lake Huron, and Georgian Bay, to receive an accumulation of 20 to 40 cm of snow.

Throughout the week, Environment Canada predicts snow, strong winds, and freezing rain in Goderich, Tobermory, and Barrie.

Ontario may also experience strong winds this week as a result of the weather system in the U.S. On Wednesday, gusts could reach 50 to 70 km/h due to the system in the U.S.

Snow will also be brought further south by those winds, the Weather Network reports.

Despite the forecasted snowfall, highway 400 north of Barrie to Parry Sound and highway 11 should experience whiteout conditions.

The road is a dangerous place to drive, so drivers should take extra precautions.

Lake-effect snow is forecast to taper off on Thursday evening, but some areas of the province could still see up to 50 cm.
