New Snow Tires Nabbed Aggressively by impaired Driver: Police

Snow Tires Several people were contacted by police last night about an “Oddly operated” vehicle in a south-end neighborhood. Police charged a 45-year-old man with impaired driving.

As it approached 10 p.m. that evening, responding officers located the suspect vehicle as it entered a driveway south of Little Avenue, where it had been parked by its driver, police said.

As a result, the driver was arrested for driving under the influence due to “obvious” signs of impairment.

“Notwithstanding the recent snowfall, the result of an aggressive decision to try out some new snow tires could have ended tragically,” police said.

As a consequence of the man’s arrest, police took him to police headquarters on Fairview Road, where a breathalyzer operator conducted the investigation and confirmed the man had exceeded the legal limit by more than two times.

Alcohol and drugs were found in the driver’s system and he was charged with operation while impaired (over .80 milligrams blood alcohol concentration).

His court appearance is scheduled for later this month in Barrie. Court proceedings have not been conducted to test any of the allegations.

According to the police, he was immobilized for seven days, and his driver’s license was suspended for 90 days, according to the ADLS program.

A community-minded citizen made the right call in this situation, demonstrating the positive results that can be achieved when the public and police work together,” the police noted.
