Heavy Rain forecast as Northern Ireland issue wind Warning

Rain forecast and drizzle will continue across the country today, with the south and west getting the heaviest and most persistent rainfall.

It could be difficult to travel in parts of Northern Ireland due to a Status Yellow wind warning for Counties Antrim and Down from Wednesday 8am to 3pm.

Weather forecasters predict 10 to 13 degrees today, with 7 to 10 degrees overnight. Showers will be few and far between tomorrow.

Rain will develop south of the country during the afternoon, but most of the country will remain dry.

Winter showers will bring temperatures down to 1 to 5 degrees during the night.

The north will get wintry showers in the morning on Thursday, but it will be cold and breezy otherwise.

High temperatures of 5 to 8 degrees will accompany the afternoon showers.

There may be frost in eastern parts of the country on Thursday night. Clouds will rise overnight, followed by a period of rain in Atlantic coastal counties by dawn.

During the night it gets a little colder, with lowest temperatures 2 to 7 degrees.

During Friday’s early hours, a band of rain is expected to push eastwards across Ireland, followed by sunny spells and scattered showers.

Along the Atlantic seaboard, strong westerly winds keep temperatures between 8 and 11 degrees.

In the evening, there will be breezy conditions with showers moving in from the Atlantic. Met Éireann forecasts temperatures between 4 and 8 degrees on Friday night.

Sunny spells and scattered showers will bring hail to the north on Saturday. Winds from the west will blow strongly and gusty during the afternoon.

Clear spells and scattered showers are forecast on Saturday night, some of them wintry. Temperatures dropping to 2 to 6 degrees again.

Early indications suggest cold and breezy conditions on Sunday, with sunshine, passing showers and some hail or sleet. Temps ranged from 4 to 9 degrees in Ulster and Munster, Met Éireann reported.
