Cottonwoods Expected to Receive Over a Foot of Snow from a Winter Storm

Winter Storm Snow is expected to fall in the Wasatch Mountains Saturday afternoon as a result of a winter storm in Utah, according to the National Weather Service.

Winter Storm are expected to last from 5 p.m. Saturday through Sunday, and a Winter Weather Advisory will be issued. By evening, snow is expected to cover parts of northern Utah.

Wasatch Front is expected to experience a cold front Saturday night and Sunday morning. Snow is expected in lower valley routes as rain transitions to snow.

Under this band of snow, road slush could occur along I-15 and lower valley routes. During the early hours of Sunday morning, all bench routes from South Ogden to Payson should see brief road snow.

By Sunday morning, most canyons, summits, and Wasatch Back routes will have several inches of snow on the roads.”

According to the NWS, “heavy snow will occur in periods of more than 2 inches per hour” from 3 a.m. Sunday until noon.

Midday Sunday, most snow is predicted to taper off, though higher elevation routes, such as Upper Cottonwoods, may still see light road snow.

According to the NWS, motorists should slow down and use caution while traveling.

The western half of the state will also see windy conditions, with gusts exceeding 45 mph.
