Canada Post and the Union make their Case at Labour board Hearings
The Canada Post Company and the union representing striking workers have been invited to present their side in a hearing of the country’s labour board on whether or not they have reached an impasse in their negotiations.
The work stoppage has now been in effect for a month now, and the Crown corporation says they intend to inform Canadians as soon as possible when they will resume operating as usual.
After the federal government forced Canada Post to end their work stoppage Friday, mail could start moving again across the country early this week following the government’s push to end it on Friday.

A directive issued by Labor Minister Steven MacKinnon to the Canadian Industrial Relations Board, which will be charged with rehiring the 55,000 picketing employees within days.
If the tribunal determines an agreement cannot be reached by the end of the year, has been issued.
By means of the minister’s directive, the Crown Corporation’s contract with its employees would also be extended until the end of May, according to the minister.
Several business groups have sought help from the government following the shopping season that was underway, as companies and individuals scrambled for alternative modes of delivery as they prepared for the holiday season.
