Atlantic Canada is Experiencing Heavy Rain, Winds, and Snow

The Atlantic Canada coast will experience heavy rain and winds this weekend, along with some slushy snow accumulations over higher terrain.

There will also be heavy rain, winds, and slushy snow across parts of the East Coast this weekend. Atlantic Canada will remain stuck in gloomy weather through the weekend, and beyond.

A widespread period of rain will be expected across the region, with 30 to 50 mm forecast. There is also the possibility of slushy accumulations, especially on higher terrain and in northern areas, in New Brunswick.

Wind and precipitation are likely to accompany this weekend’s storm, relieving pressure on areas with lower water levels. Halifax Water reports that the water level in Lake Major is lower than normal due to minimal precipitation this fall.

It has rained less than 9 percent in Halifax this month. Light rain moves into the Maritimes on Friday, while an extended period of heavy precipitation occurs on Saturday.

Heavy rain will also hit Newfoundland as the low meanders across the region. Until Sunday evening, 30-60mm of rain is forecast.

Some local power outages might be caused by gusty winds. Next Tuesday and Wednesday are expected to bring another system, and with temperatures largely above seasonal, that can mean more rain. It looks like the first week of December will be somewhat colder.
